From the moment you walk through the door at Under The Moon Cafe in Lambertville, the charm and ambiance of this stylish little spot gets your foodie senses tingling! Every aspect of the decor was carefully considered, and this attention to detail carries through to the menu. The Spanish & Argentinian influenced menu is executed flawlessly by Chef Will Porras, with bold flavors and the precision of French techniques. The restaurant is laid back yet sophisticated and the food is decadent, but approachable; making it a great destination for foodies and pickier eaters alike.
We began our meal with a tapas flight, which is one of our favorite aspects of the menu. With the flight you are able to choose four different tapas, but with a variety of options ranging from Pork Belly Bites to more traditional Spanish dishes like Salpicon de Mariscos with octopus, shrimp, mussels, lemon & olive oil, we had a hard time picking just four!
We also had the Artichoke Rice Balls made with arborio rice, asiago, parmesan, cabrales and pesto aioli, which were fantastic. While everything we ate here was absolute delicious, the standouts for us were the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich with sriracha slaw and pickles, Grilled Spanish Octopus with mole, radish fingerlings, chorizo, avocado and pickled onion and the Foie Gras that was cooked to absolute perfection! We also really enjoyed the Ropa Vieja, a cuban style shredded beef stew with rice and beans. After the many dishes we tried off of the lunch and dinner menus, we can confidently say that there isn’t a bad choice to be made!
Even after trying all of those dishes, we still had room for dessert. Under the Moon Cafe has a fantastic selection of homemade desserts, including a variety of crepe layered cakes. We opted to try the Lemon Meringue Crepe Cake, which was so light and refreshing and the Flourless Chocolate Bourbon Cake, which was super decadent. We also tried the Argentinian styled flan, which was without a doubt the best flan we’ve had!
Under The Moon Cafe was such a pleasurable experience, from the lovely staff, talented Chef to the incredible food. We can easily say this is a #twodopesfavorite and we highly recommend you grab your favorite bottle of wine and get eating!
