Dinner at Avenue in Long Branch

Updated: Nov 7, 2019

Overlooking the Atlantic ocean with huge windows, dramatic ceilings and a fireplace, Avenue in Long Branch creates the perfect atmosphere for a romantic night. With a stylish bar and an extensive wine list, it’s a great spot to grab a few drinks and unwind.  Avenue is a brasserie and they have truly found the perfect balance of relaxation and sophistication in an environment that is inspired by French cuisine and the shore community it serves. Their menu has French bistro classics and a wide selection of seafood dishes, which you can get a la carte or as part of a prix fixe menus for special events.

We really enjoyed our sea scallop and salmon tartare appetizers. The scallops were perfectly seared and served with sea beans, blood oranges and pickled jalapeno. We loved the addition of the blood oranges in this dish because it added another layer to the already robust flavor profile. The refreshing organic salmon tartare was served with spicy sweet peas and an avocado cream.

For our next course, we tried the Lobster Ravioli and the Chicken served with maitake mushrooms, local rice, leek mushroom roulade and muscat jus. The lobster ravioli was influenced by Chef Josh Sauer’s recent trip to New Orelans and the sauce has a subtle spiciness and tanginess to it.

And, of course, no meal is complete without dessert! We devoured the chocolate truffle cake which was served with espresso ice cream and the Dark Chocolate Pot de Crème – aka chocolate custard topped with crème chanitliy & served with an edible spoon.
