To appreciate Backward Flag Brewing and all of its greatness, you have to know a bit about the face behind the operation: Torie Fisher. Let us start off by saying Torie is a total badass. She is the only certified cicerone brewing beer in NJ and she is breaking barriers for women in the industry as one of the few female brewers and brewery owners in the state. Oh, and did we mention she served in the military as a door gunner and crew chief on a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter. Yea, so like we said.. badass!

brewery in Forked River, NJ. With their slogan, “Cheers to us and those like us" the brewery has quickly become a place where people with military and law enforcement backgrounds can come and mingle with each other. That’s not to say civilians are not welcome because trust us, they are! Torie has a passion for community and educating the public about beer, which is evident in the welcoming and comfortable setup of the brewery. Backward Flag Brewing Co has an impressive beer portfolio that is constantly evolving, but some of our favorites so far are the Above Standard IPA, The Forked River Mountain Stout and the STFU Pale Ale.
