Fresh. Delicate. Seasonal. Delicious. Those are the words that run through your mind as you’re sitting down at Limani Seafood Grill in Westfield, NJ. Our meal began with a raw seafood platter, which was filled with lump crab meat, shrimp, raw clams and a variety of some of our favorite oysters - French Kiss, Kumamoto and Blue Point. It was a great way to settle in and begin our meal at Limani Seafood Grill. We rarely meet a seafood platter that we don’t love, but this was exceptionally delicious.
We then tried the Purée Roasted Eggplant and Chickpea Hummus and the Crispy Fried Soft Shell Crab drizzled with Remoulade and Tartar Sauce. The soft shell crab was expertly fried and the flavor profile of the breading mixed perfectly with the remoulade and tartar sauce. It was DOPE - One of the best soft shell crabs we’ve had.
The Fruit & Goat Cheese Salad with strawberries, apples, oranges, dates, walnuts with a honey vinaigrette had a lovely combination of flavors.
For our main courses, we tried the Florida Red Grouper and the Halibut .. You know, for the HALIBUT!
The Florida Red Grouper was served with fried capers, scallions, olive oil, lemon juice, white wine, red pepper flakes & parsley. This dish was so flavorful without overpowering the taste of the grouper - & it had a bit of a kick to it! The Halibut Filet was served with Lemon Basil, Roasted Garlic, Lemon Zest, Capers, White Wine & Lemon Juice. The lemon sauce enhanced the natural flavors of the halibut. Grouper and Halibut are both in season, so you will not see these dishes on the menu once the season ends.
We ended our meal with the Cappuccino Truffle, which was cappuccino gelato with a heart of espresso covered with coffee flavored meringue sprinkles and the homemade baklava. Both equally delicious.
With every season, brings a new range of fresh fish. what is so exciting about Limani Seafood is the ever changing menu based off of the ingredients that George is able to get and the dishes he is able to create. Trust us, you only need to take 1 bite to see what we’re talking about!
