Modeled after the famous supper clubs of the Midwest, 100 Steps Supper Club & Raw Bar creates a relaxed environment for enjoying sophisticated food in Cranford, NJ among friends and family. The light walls and dark chairs paired with the industrial style lighting is the perfect backdrop for a beautiful, romantic dinner. This supper club has a fantastic raw bar, with an extensive selection of oysters and a daily ceviche. We began our meal with a refreshing shrimp cocktail and oyster platter over a nice bottle of white wine we brought from our home, as they are BYOB.
Chef Joe Beninato has curated an impressive menu with a variety of dinners ranging from Ricotta Gnocchi to Duck Breast. While 100 Steps has a great reputation as a seafood restaurant, their selection of “butcher options” are just as inventive and wonderfully executed. The dish that really highlights this is the chicken liver mousse with pistachios and lemon thyme honey served with toasted brioche, which was fantastic! For our entrees, we both enjoyed the Barnegat Scallops served with sunchokes, marinated mussels and cauliflower purée along with the Braised Short Rib with glazed baby carrots and tempura fried onion rings.
While you might be tempted to load up on the raw bar and dinner, you will definitely want to save room for a few desserts! Let us tell you, they are next level! You can taste Pastry Chef Carolyn Wyland’s passion for sweets in her Citrus Orange Torte, which was perfectly balanced and served with chocolate ganache, a candied lemon peel and crispy buckwheat. We also could not get enough of the Maple Pound Cake with ginger crepe fraiche, banana brûlée and brown butter ice cream.
